Jesuits
The Descendants of Jesuit Slaveholding oral history collection, 2023, contains oral histories recorded by students in the Loyola University Maryland course "Oral History and Philanthropy," taught by Doehler Chair in History Dr. David Carey, Jr. Students interviewed individuals who are descended from ancestors enslaved by Jesuits and forced to work on properties in Maryland and Washington, DC. Descendants discuss their personal and family histories and their thoughts on work being done at Jesuit institutions to understand this history and build connections with the descendant community.
